Short Biography: 

Riccardo Silvestri was Born in Rome (Italy), on january 22, 1962. He received his degree in Mathematics magna cum laude from the University of Rome, 1987
and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1992. From 1994 to 1998 he was a Researcher in the “Dipartimento di Informatica” of the “Sapienza” University of Rome. From 1998 to 2001 he was an Associate Professor in the “Dipartimento di Matematica Pura ed Applicata” of the University of L'Aquila, Italy. From 2001 to date he has been an Associate Professor in the “Dipartimento di Informatica” of the “Sapienza” University of Rome. Before joining 'La Sapienza' at Rome, he worked from 1987 to 1988 in two Italian software companies. In 1991 he was guest of the University of Rochester NY (USA).

His main research interests are in algorithms and computational complexity, especially randomized algorithms and distributed models and algorithms. More recently, his research activity is focused on the analysis and modelling of communication in mobile networks with a special emphasis on the study of stochastic models of network mobility and information dissemination. He is author of more than 70 scientific papers in the main international journals and conferences.
