Georgios Tsaples

Research Fellow at SAPIENZA University of Rome:

  • DIAG (Department of Automation and Management Engineering)
  • CIS (Cyber Intelligence and information security)

Georgios Tsaples was born in Larissa, Greece in 1983 and graduated from the Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki with a Master’s Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a specialization in the Energy Sector and a focus (dissertation thesis) on the policies of the liberalization of the electricity sector in various countries of the European Union.

He holds a Master’s degree (MsC) in Engineering and Policy Analysis from Delft University of Technology, where he was introduced to simulation (especially System Dynamics and Agent-Based Modelling) and Decision Analysis (Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis). His dissertation thesis was the development of a Python program with the purpose of combining System Dynamics with exploratory Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis Methods that could lead to more robust decision-making.

During his Msc studies he worked in the Hague Center for Strategic Studies, where he produced a manual that would help social scientists incorporate quantitative/mathematical methods in projects related to International Relationships.

Currently, he is working as a Research Fellow at Center for Cyber Intelligence and Information Security of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where he is part of the System Dynamics group. He is currently working on European projects related to infrastructure security (CRISADMIN, ATTACKS), while in parallel continues to research on topics such as: population dynamics, urban development and methodological techniques (exploratory modelling and analysis, integration of decision-making techniques etc.).

His publications are in the field of System Dynamics and include:

“A shock to the system: How can land value taxation change the face of the cities”, (2013), Tsaples G., Pruyt E., Kovari A., Vassilopoulos C., In the Proceedings of the 2013 International Conference of the System Dynamics Society, Boston"

“Epidemiology of CMV”, (2013), Nassikas M., Tsaples G., In the Proceedings of the 2013 International Conference of the System Dynamics Society, Boston"
